This is truly a tragic story from the UK. You might argue that had the baby seen a doctor right away the outcome would've been the same. I'm appalled to think that medical personnel have hardened their hearts so much to turn away a dying baby. I guess it goes with the territory (socialized medicine).
Baby dies of meningitis after parents forced to call 999 from outside GP surgery 'because doctors were too busy to help' | Mail Online.A couple whose baby was dying of meningitis were forced to dial 999 for an ambulance from outside their GP surgery - after being told doctors were too busy to see him.
Lee Freeman and Shaunna Bent sprinted more than a mile to their local GP surgery with five-month-old Jaydon in their arms after he was struck down with classic meningitis symptoms.
But when they arrived, a receptionist told them no doctor was available and they could leave their number so someone could call them back.
Convinced that Jaydon was seriously ill, the couple went outside to call 999 and an ambulance arrived within minutes.
A patient in the waiting room was also alarmed and after seeing the critically-ill baby, ran back inside to grab a doctor.
Only then were the couple taken inside the surgery and into a consulting room to see if they were alright.
Little Jaydon was taken to hospital in an ambulance but kept slipping in and out of consciousness and died a few hours later from meningococcal septicaemia.
His parents are furious and want to know why there was no doctor available to see their dying son.
